Web and Game Development

The Web and Game Development program is geared toward students interested in exploring computer programming, web technologies, and the creativity and technology of game creation.

 Students in this program will develop skills in coding, interactive design, game theory and development, and mobile game app creation using industry standard programming languages and development tools.

The Program

Consists of one year of Web Development and one year of Game Development. Potential careers may include:
Web developer
Interface designer
Computer programmer
Systems analyst
Software engineer
Database specialist
Game programmer
Mobile app developer
Other computer science careers.


Objectives

1. Gain experience with interface design, form creation and processing, and web coding.

2. Evaluate existing web sites.

3. Learn programming syntax and create their own web sites using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

4. Learn all the foundational skills of web development, including navigation, links, images, graphics, styling, and responsive web design.

5. Develop skills with the latest industry-standard design software.


Units of Study

Game creation (digital, board, and escape room), virtual reality development, game theory, programming logic, website functionality,
interface design, color theory, typography, design and layout principles, interface design, logo and sprite creation, and preparation of images.
