Farrar

The Orleans/Niagara BOCES Board of Education has appointed Taweepon “Pon” Farrar, Ed.D., to be the next District Superintendent of the Orleans/Niagara BOCES.  Dr. Farrar will officially begin her duties on August 14, 2024.   

Dr. Farrar is currently the Superintendent of the West Valley Central School District.  She began her public education career as a Counselor and Department Chairperson in West Seneca.  Dr. Farrar then spent twelve years in the Akron Central Schools having been promoted a number of times, she was the Director of Educational Services and Data Coordinator at the time she departed to take the position in West Valley.  Prior to her professional career Dr. Farrar served for five years in the United States Navy, received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland, a Master of Science in School Administration and Supervision from Canisius College, and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN.  

Dr. Farrar has a proven track record of implementing strategic initiatives to improve student outcomes, enhance teacher performance and foster a positive learning environment.  She prides herself on being a visionary leader with a commitment to educational excellence, stakeholder engagement, and community collaboration.

The Board would like to welcome Dr. Farrar to the organization, and we look forward to a bright future!  The Board will be planning a meet and greet reception for Dr. Farrar in the near future.

Finally, we expect in the very near future that the New York State Education Department will assign an Interim District Superintendent to bridge the time between Dr. Godshall’s retirement and Dr. Farrar’s start date.  Once we have that information will we share an update.
