A North Tonawanda Learning Center student, Harrison Cotton, was recently recognized by New York State Assemblyman Angelo Morinello (Niagara Falls – District 145).

Assemblyman Morinello sponsors a summer reading challenge to encourage kids to read regularly during the summer.  Harrison was one of the students to fulfill a pledge to read at least 15 minutes a day for 40 days and earned a New York State Assembly Excellence in Reading Certificate.  Morinello personally stopped by the Orleans/Niagara BOCES’ North Tonawanda Learning Center to congratulate Harrison on achieving his goal.  “This is a very important thing for me to be able to give the certificate in person,” he says.  “Reading can transport us to different worlds, keep our minds sharp and provide benefits beyond the summer months.  I am very proud of all the students who took up this challenge!”

North Tonawanda Learning Center Coordinator Shannon Baccari says that everyone at the site is very proud of Harrison and want to thank Assemblyman Morinello for stopping by.
